Living without your beloved dog

I have lived with many dogs. Meanwhile, I am a fan of toy breeds of dogs like the Lhasa apso, Havanese, pugs and others. I prefer them because they are quite easy to manage. Traveling won’t be an issue because you can always crate them and move them with limited cost. They stay indoors and I can easily train them to behave well. Having lived with many toy dogs till I got this little pug that was named Peach by my employee. She is a black pug as against the tan color variety. Peach lived with me for 4 years. This have never happened because I usually get tired of dogs quite easily even when they have the best behavior.

I have had to give away my dogs or sell them very high prices and still get a huge thanks later from the buyers because they get to discover the treasure they got from me when they start living with the dogs. Peach was very hard to do away with. She became a household name in my clinic and among my family and friends.

Peach can charm anyone and I don’t know how she does that. She is seen to be very ugly to some of our clients but they always wanna see and take pictures of her. Peach can make you feel so important that you can spend your money to please her. She grew up feeding from friends who would come around to just play with her. These her friends always or almost always come around with food. PEACH LOVES TO EAT! She can eat and look pregnant.

Peach fell sick once and I was shocked that peach refused food. Sorry, I couldn’t help but laugh continuously. I was her doctor so I wasn’t very worried. I only promised her she would get the needles she hated so much. She resumed her eating habit few days later after her treatment.

I sold Peach for reasons I’m not willing to disclose. Living without Peach has become unbearable. I arranged the sale in such a way that I will not know the buyer because I knew I was gonna miss her and might go after her. I sold Chase the same way but Peach was really unique because she has come to understand my everyday life. She could wait in the house without messing things up she was lovely to have around.

She drives with me to the clinic sitting on the passenger’s seat until we get there. She knows when we get to the clinic and will not try to get down from the car until she recognizes the clinic. She tries to force her way out of the car whenever we get to the clinic but never does that anywhere else.

It’s has been difficult to let go. I have tried to ask myself: “what if she was dead?” I guess life would still go on. It was obvious to me that it was time I part with her which i have been reluctant to do ever since. I had to convince myself to let go and made sure I didn’t know the buyer. I have lots of photos of her and I always get to smile looking at them and remembering her tricks and displays which can be quite funny. It’s a kind of relief.

I own another dog, this time a Japanese spitz but Ramsey requires a lot of work at the moment. He grew up very stubborn but he is getting to drop some of his bad habits like digging the whole place and chewing wires. Ramsey cannot be like Peach but he is unique as well. Staying with him keeps me alert to stop him when he harasses strangers. He can be very determined when he senses fear from his ‘victims’ and can make a real scene. Peach was friends to all, in fact she loves to meet new people and new dogs.

I never lost a dog through death but selling my lovely dog Peach felt like loosing a lot of blood in a motor accident. I guess I am recovering and will keep her memory fresh everyday. I wish I saw her last days but you can’t eat your cake and have it.
