Overview:

The Wire-haired Pointing Griffon is an ideal hunter’s companion. They also make excellent family pet as long as they get enough exercises. They are highly regarded by field sports people who will find it very reliable as a working dog. They are affectionate and loyal to their family.

Character:

These dogs are intelligent and eager to learn, affectionate, sociable, and friendly, vigilant and protective, brave, tough on themselves, and have enormous stamina.

 

Height:

The shoulder-height is 55 – 60cm (21 ½ 23 ½ 2in) foe dog and 50 - 55cm (19 ½ - 21 ½ in) for bitches.

23-27kg

 

Temperament:

Generally these dogs get on well with children and also cause no problem with other dogs. Provided they are correctly socially trained, they will also put with cats and your other household animals. Family friendly will be heartily welcomed but persons of evil intention will be stopped in their tracks.

 

Coat:

The hard and rough-haired coat should never feel woolly. The undercoat is soft and dense. The most popular colour are blue-grey, grey with brown patches, and plain brown (often shot through with grey hairs). White with brown is also permissible.

 

Care:

The wire-haired Pointing should be grooming regularly with brush and comb. Check during grooming that ear passage are clean and trim excess hair between the pads oh the feet.

 

Training:

Dogs of this breed are not generally difficult to train, although the new owner needs to be consistent with them. The dogs is intelligent enough to grasp quickly what is require of it.
