The Belgian Griffon, Griffon Bruxellois and Petit Brabancon are similar dog breeds that share similar traits and are in general called Belgian Griffons. They are ideal family pets that are curious and sociable. They can be happily kept in a flat but they will always enjoy a walk in the woods and other country places.

These are curious, mischievous dogs that are playful, straightforward, calm, eager to learn, that are also good with children. They keep a good and like to be close to their handler.

The Griffon Bruxellois and the Belgian Griffon are rough-hair. The Griffon Bruxellois is reddish pink, perhaps with black on its nose and chin. The Belgian Griffon is completely black and tan, The Petit Brabancon is short-haired and is accepted in the same colours as the other Griffons.


The rough-haired Griffons are usually plucked by hand at regular intervals, leaving the moustache, beard and other facial features alone. comb the beard frrequently to remove food remains and such like and to prevent tangles.
