Overview:
Curly coated retriever is a smart, upstanding dog which shows activity, endurance and intelligence. They were established as distinct breed by 1860 when it was first exhibited at Birmingham City Show.

This is an intelligent, friendly, boisterous dog which can be dominant that is active, independent vigilant, and has a good nose for scents. The Curly Coated Retriever likes to please its handle and learns commands fairly quickly. In spite of this, it has a mind of its own. The males are more dominant than the bitches.

Temperament:
In normal circumstances this breed usually gets on well with dogs and other household animals. Provided children do not pester them they are mainly very patient with them. If strangers visit, they will usually look everywhere else but, If needs be, they will stand by you.
Coat:
The Curly Coated Retriever has a curly, water-proof cost. The hair on the hand and on the legs is short and without curls. They are recognized in two colours: Liver and black.
Care:
The coat of this breed should be brushed as little as possible to avoid changing its nature from the breed standard. Grooming cannot be avoided though during the moult. Afterwards the coat should be soaked with water by litting the dog swim or by sponging it down. This puts the back into the coat. If the coat becomes too long, it can be trimmed with scissors.
Training:
This breed is intelligent enough to grasp what is expected of it. Make the training challenge for this dog and very exercise because monotony will because it lose interest. It is also important always to be consistent.
