Breed Description

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a loving dog that is obedient, brave and learns quickly. It presents little difficulty in grooming, training and sociability. They are ideal for a family who would love a large dog but have little space.

Country of origin:

England

Size type:

Medium sized dogs

Character:

His breed is loving with children, obedient, brave, affectionate, has a sense of humour, is intelligent, tenacious, possesses a tremendous stamina, and is boisterous.

Breed group:

Terrier dog breeds (AKC) (UKC)

Height:

36-41cm for dogs and 33-48cm for bitches

Weight:

11-17kg for dogs and 10-16kg for bitches

Temperament:

They get on well with children and take rough play without a fuss. Provided they have been properly introduced to cats and other pets, they will get on fine. Most Staffordshire do not like the company of other dogs when they are adults and they will make this obvious.

Coat:

This coat is short and smooth. They can be black, red, soft brown, white, or blue with any mixture that does not include white. Black and tan and liver are not popular.

Care:

Staffordshire require little grooming. Remove dead and loose hairs occasionally with a rubber brush to keep the coat in optimum condition.

Training:

The Staffordshire learns quite quickly but can be stubborn. Teach this dog early that it must let go when you have had enough of rope-pulling. Remain consistent and loving when training the dog.
