The coat is very short-haired and soft, with a definite ridge of hair along the back (the pile of which grows in the opposite direction to the rest of the hair). They can be blue, silver, chestnut or black.
The Ridgeback requires little grooming. Brushing occasionally will keep the coat in good condition.
This Thai breed needs quite a lot of exercise. Running alongside a cycle or regular long walks are certainly necessary to keep the dog fit. They have been known to complete various training courses successfully.
The training of the Thai Ridgeback calls for a soft touch but with a very consistent approach.
