Overview:

The Papillon and Epagneul Phalene are an ideal family pet that is easy to train and quite intelligent. They do better when kept in good condition. They are a perfect choice for people who do not have much space in their home.

Character:

These are affectionate, lovable, lively little dogs that are playful, intelligent, and keen to learn. They can be jealous of and withdrawn with strangers.

The shoulder-height for both breed is about 28cm (11in).

4-5kg

 

Temperament:

Some of these dogs can be jealous if their owner’s attention is directed elsewhere but this does not apply to every dog and is largely dependent upon the way their social training was carried out. In general they get on well with other pets and children.   

 

Coat:

The long-haired coat is usually white with coloured patches. A white blaze on the head is desirable.

 

Care:

Brush regularly and thoroughly and remove loose hairs from the ear passages.

 

Training:

Teach this breed, which is always eager to learn something new, with a gentle hand. Vary instruction by ball or with some such reward. These are very intelligent and obedient dogs that with the right training can perform outstandingly in obedience and agility skills trials, or at fly-ball.
