Good with Kids:
Little lion dog as it is also called the Lowchen breed originated from France. From the middle ages, dogs very like the modern breed of Lowchen appeared in paintings.
Country of Origin:
Small Breed dog
The Lowchen is a cheerful, playful, and companionable dog that is intelligent, eager to learn, gentle-natured, and sensitive.
Non-sporting Dog Breed
The shoulder height is 20 â 35cm (7.5 â 13.5in)
Dog 4.5â8.2 kg
Bitches 3.6â7.3 kg
A small, intelligent dog with an affectionate and lively disposition, combining all the good qualities of a companion dog. The company of children and other household animals causes no problems of any kind.
The coat is long and wavy but should not curl. Lowchen do not have undercoats. Any color is acceptable.
There is a need to brush and comb the coat regularly to prevent tangles forming. This dog is usually clipped out in the breed-style regardless of whether they are to be shown. The hindquarters, the section of the tail closest to the body, and part of the front legs are close-clipped. The coat does not shed hairs so any dead hairs are removed by brushing.
They learn quickly and present little difficulty in their training.
The head is short and broad, the skull flat between the ears, and the body well proportioned. Lowchen are traditionally clipped in the lion clip, leaving a profuse mane over the head and shoulders, and feathering on the feet.
